Jeff Schlichter, Ph.D., a partner in Schlichter Psychotherapy Associates, LLC, is a Forensic and Licensed Clinical Psychologist. He earned a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Pennsylvania State University.

Dr. Schlichter has been in the private practice of psychotherapy for almost 40 years. He treats children, adolescents, and adults who have cognitive, mood, and behavioral difficulties, and helps to resolve relationship problems in families and couples (stemming from and resulting in separation and divorce and psychological, physical, and sexual abuse in marriages and families).

Dr. Schlichter also specializes in forensic psychology, with his practice focused primarily in the area of family law. He provides parenting coordination for separated and divorced parents, consults with family lawyers, and provides advice to parents involved in protracted custody struggles. He is a trained family mediator, has been trained in collaborative law, and has served as a divorce coach and child specialist in the collaborative divorce process.

His work is based on principles of cognitive psychotherapy, in the context of relationships emphasizing caring, warmth, the utmost respect for patients and clients, establishment of achievable therapeutic goals, maintenance of appropriate personal boundaries, and observation of high ethical standards

Dr. Schlichter was trained in coaching by Ben Dean, Ph.D., a Master Certified Coach and the founder of MentorCoach.com, which has trained therapists to become coaches. Following completion of intensive training and personal coaching with Dr. Dean, Dr. Schlichter established his own coaching practice, in which he has provided both in-office and virtual (telephone) coaching to clients, locally and nationwide. He has coached individuals attempting to reach personal goals, as well as professionals seeking to improve their work lives, and owners, managers, and employees of family businesses wishing to improve the functioning of both their businesses and their families. Dr. Schlichter has found his coaching practice to be an especially rewarding part of his professional life, in which he has worked with high-functioning adults motivated to make significant and positive changes which will improve the quality of their lives.

Dr. Schlichter is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and three divisions of APA, including the Psychology and Law Society (Division 41), Psychologists in Independent Practice (Division 42), and the Division of Family Psychology (Division 43).

A central guiding principle of Dr. Schlichter’s practice as a clinical psychologist is that anyone who seeks assistance from a mental health professional should be accorded the utmost respect. Seeking treatment outside oneself is best viewed as recognition of the reality that none of us is an expert in every difficulty with which one is faced. Asking for help is viewed as a strength, not as a weakness.

Should you wish to schedule an initial consultation with Dr. Schlichter, please call our office at your convenience. If no one is available to answer your call, please leave us a voice-mail message, and we will return your call.
